Tania Mulry was sick of candy sales and way over wrapping paper promos, but she still wanted to help her kids’ school raise money. So, she created the EdRover iPhone app, which works like this: Users download the app, find local stores that have signed up to make small donations to schools when people use the app to check in at their locations. Parents buy the things they were planning to get anyway and the schools get the money. 99,000 schools are pre-programmed, and the best part is that unlike old school sales, which give less than half of the money to education, with EdRover, schools get 100% of the donation. For more info go to www.edrover.com. To download the app, go to itunes.com.
