The volunteer-based organization Pets Are Wonderful Support (PAWS) provides the basic essentials and health services for pets belonging to low-income senior citizens or individuals faced with disability, illness, or HIV/AIDS. By ensuring that these individuals’ pets receive comprehensive care, PAWS is encouraging the healthy support system that animals share with humans, especially during their times of need. Volunteers make this mission a success by serving in one of PAWS’ many programs. You can help PAWS’ dog-walking service for pet owners who cannot walk their pets themselves (1 hour per week). You could also deliver pet food and essentials to clients (box goods on Friday afternoons or evenings at PAWS Food Bank, or deliver to clients on Saturdays). Perform in-home nail trimming for pets (1-2 times per month). You could also serve as a foster care volunteer as needed and watch pets of clients who require hospital stay. Adults 18 years or older can join, but minors can assist in the PAWS Food Bank or dog-walking with their parents. To sign up, complete the Volunteer Application online.
