Would you like to make a positive impact on the environment without even leaving your home, and help other people in your building do the same? The NYC Government’s Apartment Building Recycling Initiative is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join the program. Volunteers will work with the Department of Sanitation’s Bureau of Waste Prevention, Reuse and Recycling to educate residents in their own building about the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Volunteers will help to maintain an upbeat focus on recycling in the building all year long (while the building staff and management may be preoccupied by other building issues). Volunteers must be over 18 years old, live in a building with more than four units, be willing to work cooperatively with building management, and be able to take place in at least one training session. The next training sessions are: Thursday, February 16, 1:30pm-3:30 pm, and Tuesday, March 13, 3:00pm-5:00pm. (Plus, you’ll get a free cute T-shirt just for attending!).
