There’s no doubt that volunteering can improve someone’s life, but have you ever considered that volunteering your time can actually save someone’s life? The population served by New York Blood Center (NYBC) exceeds 22 million people. Donating blood is always appreciated, but there are other ways to help out, too. Right now, they are in need of volunteers to work as Donor Safety Monitors in all five boroughs (as well as Long Island, New Jersey, and the Hudson Valley area—so tell your friends!). You’ll help donors sign-in, answer questions, and keep them comfortable. The NYBC is currently revamping their volunteer program, so this is one organization to keep your eye on for unique opportunities in the future. Training is provided and they can accommodate your schedule.
