One of New York’s most interesting and important populations is, in some ways, invisible. There are 15,000 seniors in New York who are homebound. These are people who helped form the city we love and could be anyone from former Broadway stars to business owners. Citymeals-on-Wheels is looking for volunteers to help package and distribute nutritious food to these isolated seniors. No one should be isolated or under-nourished–so with the help of volunteers, Citymeals-on-Wheels strives to help this vulnerable population. Volunteer once or make it an ongoing commitment. Currently, Citymeals-on-Wheels needs volunteers in Queens for Saturday deliveries, and in Manhattan for Sunday deliveries. Delivery times vary. To sign up, just fill out the online application on their website.
