The 24 contestants on NBC’s “The Voice” took some time out of their busy rehearsal schedules in Los Angeles on March 29th to spend a day volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, an organization that last year delivered 60 million pounds of food to over one million individuals in Los Angeles County.

iVolunteer with International Medical Corps and have been doing so for more than two and a half years. It has taken me to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, and most recently Ethiopia, where the worst drought in 60 years has ravaged East Africa – primarily Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya. Already, tens of thousands of people have died of starvation and disease.

My mother worked as a cafeteria supervisor in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The food she served was often the only meal those kids ate all day, so I’ve known about the problem of hunger since I was young . . .
