

The 24 contestants on NBC’s “The Voice” took some time out of their busy rehearsal schedules in Los Angeles on March 29th to spend a day volunteering at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, an organization that last year delivered 60 million pounds of food to over one million individuals in Los Angeles County.

[And] researchers have come to the conclusion that the best way to eradicate poverty throughout the world is to invest money in the education and medical protection of teenage girls, because they are the galvanizing force in their communities and, if you can empower them, you will change their communities. When New Look first started it was simply an idea that, I being in a place of positive influence, could do something that would be encouraging to kids who had talents but needed to understand the know how to make whatever was in their minds a reality.

I volunteer with Upward Bound House in Santa Monica and Culver City, a shelter that provides short- and long-term housing for families with children. A couple of years after I had my own kids—and realized how insanely challenging it is to raise children—I thought about parents who are struggling . . .
